Castelli del Grevepeasa was established by local vintners in 1965 on Ponte di Gabbiano - Mercatale Val di Pesa, in the commune of San Casciano Val di Pesa, about 25 km south of Florence. The co-operative today owns 1000 hectares of vineyards, of which 650 hectares are determined for the production of DOCG Chianti Classico. Castelli del Grevepesa is the largest producer of Chianti Classico.
